American Family Values (AFA)

We love these guys about as much as we love lemon juice on hemorrhoids. (Pssst don't try that at home.) http://www.afa.net/

Their latest campaign is against McDonald's. Do they have problems with artery-clogging food killing off countless people before their prime? No. Do they have issues with children eating fast food for dinner instead of clustering around a family meal at home? No. They take issue with "the gay agenda".

A document shows McDonald's requested a 10% "group discount" to a recent pro-homosexual training seminar. Eligibility to receive the discount required "groups of 15 or more registrants for the full price 3-day (Out & Equal 2008 Workplace) Summit."

McDonald’s applied for the special "discount code" off the regular registration price of $775 per person. The registration price did not include the employee's air travel, hotel and meal expenses.

The conference, held in Austin, TX, was designed to train employees how to effectively advance homosexuality in the workplace and to persuade top corporate officials to embrace the lifestyle by offering special recognition and benefits to gay employees.

For example, McDonald's health benefits package includes full coverage for sex-change procedures, post-operative recovery, and mental health counseling throughout the process."

McDonald's spanks them:

It makes us wonder why in the hell the people at AFA think that they have any more right than McDonald's to have an opinion or support a platform. McDonald's supports diversity with its employees and customers. Can you imagine the lawsuit that would get slapped into place by some poor man who was refused service because some pathetic cashier mistook him as being gay?

Debra JM Smith

We had no idea who this was until comments poured in. We researched the links provided and found that the people who gave the information were absolutely correct in what was posted. We were able to verify the details.

This section is where you can vent about Debra JM Smith. You may discuss any and all details that she has made public in chat forums, news forums, discussion forums or on Blog Talk Radio. You may not post derogatory comments about things that Mrs. Smith (that sounds like a bad pie) has not made public. Opinions do not have to equal libel.

The truth only, please. You must provide web links for any copied and pasted items that you wish to attribute to Mrs. Smith.

What is a fundie?

A fundie is a hard core (0 tolerance) bigot.

A Christian who embraces the entire bible is a fundamentalist Christian. They foster a sense of Christ. They embrace their fellow man (or woman) with the light of Christ. They may no agree with another's actions or attitudes but they refuse to judge their souls or preach at them. They might talk to them, explaining the mercy of God.

A fundie would screech about how bad a person is, spew bible verses (Romans 1 is a favorite for some reason) and damn any who do not embrace their particular doctrine, dogma, opinion, viewpoint etc.

Fundies (extremists) might be:
Abrahamic relisions: Christian, Judaism, Islam, some forms of Satanism; sometimes Bahai is grouped in here
Indian religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism
Far Eastern religions: Taoism, Shinto, Chondogyo, Caodaism, Yiguando, Confucianism.
Iranic religions: Zorostrianism, Yazdanism, Gnosticism, and overlaps some Abrahamic beliefs.
African and Indigenous tribal religions
New religions movements: Bahai, Hindu revivalism, Ayyavazhi, Pentecostalism, polytheistic reconstructionism, UFO religions, metaphysical
Other Pagan beliefs: Druidic, Wiccan
Political: Republican, Democrat, Independent, Socialist, Nazi, Anarchist, Tory,
Alignment: liberal, conservative

Union workers
Home school supporters
Shoe Salesmen

Racists
You get the picture.

This blog is mainly concerned with Abrahamic fundies.

Let's not mince words: we watchdog Christian extremists.

Speak up about EXTREMIST activity

Have you encountered an extremist web site, blog or platform and wish us to warn people about it? Have you found a link to the KKK death rally? Is Fred Phelps plotting another foolhardy protest in your area? Is a Christian home school mommy attempting to get someone fired for not being a "true bible believing born again Christian"? Do you know of a right wing politician advocating that all those with STDS be placed in concentration camps?

HERE is where YOU expose them!

1. LINK IT. If you know the link, please share it.

2. Describe what they are doing. (Please include dates, if this is a rally.)

This area is for reporting activity only. Opinions are perfectly acceptable as long as they are contained in the same post as 1 & 2 above.

Speak up about AOL

This is the forum area where you can express your opinion, critique or even criticism regarding AOL chats, AOL religious extremists (please refer to AOL members by their screen name only), one or two line posts showing the inanity of the extremists, etc. LOGS belong in the LOG section.

We want to, as much as possible, keep to a "Free Speech" policy so everyone can feel they are being given a fair opportunity to express themselves but must enforce the following:

Because this is an open forum, language must remain appropriate for all ages and comments are required to be civil. We encourage a variety of opinions, even those we strongly disagree with, but if posts are deemed to be too inflammatory they will be deleted.

In addition, this forum is to be kept in line with this blog's theme. We do not want this to degrade into petty wars between non-fundies that are reminiscent of chimpanzees flinging feces. Off topic comments will not be published. Please, do not allow what is posted here to spill over into AOL chat rooms.

Thanks for your cooperation. Now, tell us what's on your mind!

Westboro Blaptist

When it comes to extremists, Westboro takes the cake. This group is why Hate Speech laws need to be passed. They call themselves Christian but have a very bad habit: they insult anyone who does not embrace their beliefs.

"God hates Fred Phelps and his inbred family", an email said, and they included Westboro's schedule (see comments.)

"I wonder if he realizes that mocking the military is in fact mocking men who may have special warfare training. These are men who could easily kill you with a pink pet eraser. Either Phelps is incredibly stupid or he is incredibly stupid. Take your pick," the email goes on to say.

His main web site is
Westboro Baptist Church Home Page however he has several others advertised on that page.

Apparently he's done some updating to his main page since the last time that we viewed it.

CAVEAT

Caveat: Latin, let him beware, from cavēre

OUR FULL CAVEAT
We have this nifty right in the United States: freedom of speech. It is not harassment, stalking or libelous to discuss a public figure, to state opinions concerning a public figure, or to report factual information concerning a public figure. Public figures are considered (but not limited to): politicians, talk show hosts, movie stars or recording stars.

Public figures choose to expose themselves (figuratively) to the public and hence must accept that they have given up their privacy as it pertains to their public life. Any and all personal issues that they choose to bring to the public's attention (think Spears and her shaved head) are thereby open to scrutiny.

If a talk show host can "rag" on the president of the United States, the world can "rag" on the talk show host. If someone is too thin skinned to understand this, they really shouldn't assume the role of a public figure. Your hosts may or may not agree with the opinions of guests.

Hate Speech

In the United States, government is broadly forbidden by the First Amendment of the Constitution from restricting speech, however this blog will not tolerate hate speech.

Hate speech is a term for speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against a person or group of people based on their race, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, language ability, moral or political views, socioeconomic class, occupation or appearance (such as height, weight, and hair color), mental capacity and any other distinction-liability. The term covers written as well as oral communication and some forms of behaviors in a public setting. It is also sometimes called antilocution and is the first point on Allport's scale which measures prejudice in a society.

However the religious right refuses to allow this to be passed into law. They feel that their religious freedom to correct [attack] certain groups [gays, divorced people, Muslims] will be taken away. Until the law is passed, we are free to refer to the religious right as moronic knob gobblers [but we won't; that would be rude.]

What constitutes hate speech?

Example: gay marriage

Many people do not support gay marriage. It is their right to disagree with gay marriage. They are entitled to their opinion. They are free to say, "I don't believe in gay marriage because I believe that homosexuality is a sin. Let me cite some reasons before I listen to your counter-argument." (Ah to live in such a polite world!)

Hate speech would be, "I don't agree with homosexual marriage because f*** need to burn in hell. Jesus said f*** burn in hell. They are an abomination and are not saved."

Now please scroll up and view this blog's title. Don't forget to scroll back down. We'll wait.

Welcome back. This blog does not at any time support hate speech. We do point out the counterproductive and often harmful nature of fundie thinking. That is this blog's theme.

Because this is an open forum, language must remain appropriate for all ages and comments are required to be civil. We encourage a variety of opinions, even those we strongly disagree with, but if posts are deemed to be too inflammatory they will be deleted. Posts contained in public chatlogs will remain as they were originally posted since they are offered in their entirety for discussion/opinion purposes here and are to the best of our knowledge, the actual words of the poster to which they are attributed.

Thanks for your cooperation.
